When Asus announced the new line of ROG phones back in August, it had gamers everywhere excited about the possibilities. The newest phone in this series, the Asus ROG Phone 5, has arrived and offers some pretty amazing features that gamers are sure to love, as well as some other cool upgrades that make it an awesome choice even if you’re not into games! Let’s take a look at what makes this one of the best smartphones on the market today.

Design and display

The IPS LCD display is a little smaller at 6.2′′ and has a resolution of 1080×2246 with a pixel density of 402 ppi. The screen has really good colors and brightness that are very vibrant in all environments. The ambient light sensor is used to automatically adjust the color temperature and brightness of the screen according to your surroundings, this is useful for those gamers who love to game outdoors.

The bezels are razor thin which contributes to the device’s modern aesthetics while maintaining the durability that Asus devices are known for. The phone weighs 191 grams making it not too heavy, but not too light either. It feels comfortable when you hold it and nicely fits in your hand so you don’t need to use both hands like on some other smartphones.

 Features and specs

The Asus ROG Phone features a 6-inch QHD+ OLED with a refresh rate of 90Hz and HDR support. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip with Adreno 630 GPU, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.96GHz, and dual 12MP + 8MP cameras. The smartphone also comes with a liquid cooling system that enhances performance while preventing the device from heating up during gaming sessions.

The design is excellent, and the triple-headed snake logo on the back has a 3D effect which works really well on the high quality device! The bottom firing speaker does an excellent job of producing sound without making it difficult to hold the phone in landscape mode. I was surprised to find that there are only two ports for charging and headphone use (no Type C).

However, both ports support USB PD so it’s not too much of a problem in my opinion. Overall, this is one impressive phone that I think would be perfect for any gamer out there looking for their next purchase! For $899.99 USD, you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck here.

Performance, battery life, software, and conclusion

The Asus ROG phone runs on the Snapdragon 845 chipset with liquid cooling, meaning it can handle anything from heavy gaming to intense 3D applications. It has a large 6-inch display, which is currently one of the biggest phones on the market. At 400 ppi, this resolution means that media and apps are crystal clear with vivid colors. Additionally, the battery life makes it perfect for going all day without having to charge.

The software experience is also amazing; thanks to Android Oreo (8.1), it supports adaptive and fluid interfaces that don’t get in your way when you’re trying to work or play. Whether you need extra storage space or want an easy-to-use operating system, the ROG’s 128GB of storage will keep you covered.

Plus, there’s a headphone jack and an LTE modem so you’ll never be without coverage no matter where you go. All in all, this is a great phone for anyone who wants to have fun while they do everything else on their smartphone. If you love playing games like PUBG Mobile, Fortnite Mobile, or Asphalt 9: Legends then the ROG phone is perfect for you.

If these games aren’t your thing then maybe something like Gmail would suit your needs better than this device. That being said, if you’re looking for a good gaming phone then this one fits the bill. With a price point of $899, this could be too expensive for some people, but most gamers will find it worth the cost.

What I liked about the Asus ROG Phone 5:

-It has an excellent performance -The battery lasts all day -It has a sleek design and build quality -You can download as many games as you want because of its ample storage

-Its software is compatible with any app I could think of What I didn’t like about the Asus ROG Phone 5: -There are only two color options available -There isn’t much protection around the edges My final thoughts: For someone who loves video games, this phone is a dream come true. With its powerful performance and gorgeous design, it doesn’t disappoint.
