According to a report published in Germany, last year saw a steady increase in the number of attacks on journalists. In 2021, 83 journalists were attacked.
According to the latest report from the European Center for Press and Media Freedom in Leibniz, Germany, last year there were 83 physical attacks on male and female journalists in Germany and 124 media workers were tortured. They include teams of journalists. However, researchers say that the number of unreported cases of physical assault on journalists is much higher.
It should be noted that in 2021, the most difficult and dangerous places for journalists to fulfill their professional responsibilities were in the places where demonstrations and protests were held.
The study report also noted that incidents of intimidation and attacks on journalists were particularly noted where opponents of the Corona measures were protesting.
The research report states that the crackdown on the press in West Germany has shown that hatred of the press has become part of the routine life of a minority group.
In addition, 21 cases were recorded in other German areas, Lower Saxony, 14 in Berlin, 10 in Bavaria, 6 in Baden-Wٹrttemberg, 3 in Theorangia and Hesse, 3 and one each in North Rhine-Westphalia, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein.
