However, it can be a lot more fun, and that’s precisely what we want to do in this how-to-draw cartoon bus guide! This guide will show you how to create a fun and excellent representation of this helpful vehicle. You probably won’t find buses boring at the end of these 7 steps!
How to Draw A Cartoon Bus
This guide starts with a sketch of the bus. Drawing any vehicle can be challenging, even if done in a cartoon style, but as long as you follow the steps and take your time, it will be much easier!
Try to follow our reference image closely as you draw the square but rounded outlines of the bus’s top, front, and back. We can then add more components and measurements in the subsequent few phases.
In this second phase of our guide on drawing a cartoon bus, we will add more details to create the structure of the bus. This is another step where closely following the provided reference image is of great help!
First, we draw a sharply curved line that looks slightly like an upside-down L near the top of the bus. This then leads to a square section that appears to extend into the interior of the bus.
This contains some details made up of curved and straight lines, and the reference image guides you through this section. That’s it for this step, and then we can move on to the next!
People driving this bus need some windows to look out of, so in this next step in drawing your cartoon bus, let’s add some! These windows are aligned with the top edges of the bus, and each has a slightly rounded rectangular shape.
On the front edge of the bus, below the two windows at the top of this section, are other rectangular shapes of various sizes. We will add more details in the fourth step of the guide, so let’s move on!
The next step in our guide to drawing a bus is easy, and it’ll be easier if you have a ruler handy. In this case, we separate the top and bottom parts of the bus and use straight lines close to each other.
While not very complex, drawing these lines freehand would be difficult, so that a ruler will come in handy here! Once it looks like our reference image, we can proceed to step 5.
Now it’s time to add some windows to the bottom half of the bus. These look similar to the windows on the top sides, but their size and placement are slightly different, as seen in the reference image.
Windows are also added to the square and notched section near the front. Once these windows are added, it’s time for some final details and stuff in the next step of the guide.
In this next step, we’ll add quite a few things to your cartoon bus design, so take it slow! First, add the base of the bus with your ruler but make sure you leave some rounded openings for the bus wheels. The wheels are drawn as rounded shapes with round parts inside.
With these final elements, we top off this bus with fun face details! You can draw round eyes with raised eyebrows near the front and then give him a smiling mouth under a square nose.
Then this cartoon bus is complete! Before proceeding, make sure to add more details or ideas to customize it further. Will you add a background for this funny bus?
This final step of our guide on drawing a cartoon bus focuses on bringing it to life with some color! In our reference image, we’ve opted for a classic red color for much of the vehicle.
Then we created a fun contrast with a yellow stripe between the two sections. Will you use a similar color scheme for your cartoon bus? You can even opt for unique colors, so it’s entirely up to you!
