Samsung Galaxy A51 Review: A Great Phone for Any Budget

The Samsung Galaxy A51 was recently released as the latest model in the Galaxy A lineup of phones from Samsung. While previous models have typically been more expensive than other budget smartphones, the Galaxy A51 offers great value and an even greater display at an affordable price. In this review of the Samsung Galaxy A51, we’ll break down its most important features to help you decide if it’s right for you.

Why you should buy it

I recently got the opportunity to review the Samsung Galaxy A51 and I really loved it. The specs are impressive for the price and it has a lot of great features like 2x optical zoom and 32GB of storage. It’s light weight, too, which is important for those who don’t want to lug around a heavy phone.

Plus, it has a variety of colors! This phone is perfect if you’re looking for an upgrade from an older device or are just looking to update your current mobile device with something newer that fits your budget. The battery life is decent but not amazing so keep in mind this may not be the best choice for someone who wants a long lasting phone. All in all, I think this is a good option for someone looking to spend less than $300 on their next smartphone purchase. If you’re already invested in another ecosystem like Android, iOS, or Windows then this won’t make much sense since there will likely be more advanced phones out there at a similar price point.

However, if you’re looking for something simple without any unnecessary features then the Samsung Galaxy A51 might be worth checking out. Just know that if you go with this one you’ll have to settle for a lower end camera, battery life, and screen resolution.

 How good is it?

This phone offers a similar feel and the same specs as most other 2019 flagships, but with a lower price tag. With top of the line features like an 8MP front-facing camera with real time beautification mode, 4K video recording capabilities, a 16MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, and 64GB of expandable storage space (with additional memory available through microSD), this phone is hard to beat. And that’s not all.

Samsung has included some exciting new features like palm and gesture control to make it even easier to use your phone. You can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to close an app or press and hold for voice assistant without touching any keys or parts of your device. For example, you could turn on Do Not Disturb mode by swiping down on the screen and then placing your hand over the sensor located at the back of the phone.

If you don’t want to take a screenshot of something, just press the power button twice quickly and place your palm over the proximity sensor for about three seconds. All these new features might sound complicated when reading them off paper, but in practice they’re really easy to learn and work well once you get used to them.

The only downside is that Palm/Gesture Control Mode won’t work with third party apps; if you’re looking for something more versatile than stock gestures there are better options out there. It also doesn’t support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks so keep that in mind if you have home internet service. However, this phone still has a lot going for it and will serve most people very well.

Why it might not be right for you

There are many reasons why this might not be the best phone for you. First of all, it’s smaller screen size will make it more difficult to view videos or movies. Additionally, the camera isn’t fantastic, so expect lower quality pictures if that is important to you. This device also only has 16GB of storage and a small battery, which could be an issue depending on your needs.

Finally, while it is cheaper than other phones on the market today and has some decent features such as NFC and a fingerprint sensor, there are better options available to you within this budget range. The Moto G6 Plus costs less and provides more power, while the Samsung Galaxy S10e still delivers great performance with high-end features at a similar price point.

However, if you’re looking for a great deal on a new phone and don’t mind sacrificing certain features (such as storage space), then the Samsung Galaxy A51 may be perfect for you. It offers plenty of basic features, including Bluetooth 5.0, dual SIM card slots, Android 9 Pie OS out of the box, and 4G LTE speeds up to 300 Mbps. The one thing I really like about this phone is its durability. Even though it does not have a glass back like most newer models do, the polycarbonate material keeps your device protected from drops without being too heavy or bulky.
